It's been a day or two since last I've showered

And yep it is cliche but yo that's not what I thought
I come from Kalamazoo, I was performing at bars
And any profit from the shows got simply poured in my car
For the back and forth on gas, I never asked for more than that
I just thought I'd get that here once my momentum kicked a start
It's been damn near half a year, People don't know that I'm here
Know I'm supposed to have no fear but this supposedly my career
And I done fucked up any hope of back up plan since I was 15
That's the average I graduated with, 15
That's a fucking 1.5, honors kids find no one hiring at these times
So who am I to find the gusto to apply
Like "Hi, my name is Devin, I've spit since 16, I've got tattoos, never held a job, what positions are free?"
Not a thing to show on resumes, but plenty of almosts
But the deals I should've signed won't fucking get me at costcos
So what am I to do, don't need my name up in lights
Or to be famous being poor or to be hated or liked
I just wanna like myself and what I'm doing to contribute to the world
In my own specific way I'll be a little
Only goal is to be someone a younger me would look up to
And not be disappointed, if you don't get it then fuck you
It wasn't made for you in mind, cause I won't change my tunes a dime
I've done all the appeasement I can it's a waste of time
All the balling like the Lakers, grinding hungrier than Darfur lines
Felt disingenuine that's not what I'm in art for
I'm in it cause I feel like I've got something I can teach
Some kids that I can find that might be lying out of reach
And if I'm wrong then fine, but I'll be damned if I don't try
If I fail I'll pack it home right after riding out my lease
There's just no song to right to make it better
Learned far more just this week than I could in just a semester
So for everyone that told me one year back that I should just start school
I did, ya'll just took the standard route, I went to art school
