Rap Genius is proud to announce its very first online internships!The RG Music Team is offering internships in Quality Control, Rock, and Pop. Now, no matter where you are in the world, you can be an official part of the crew!

This twelve-week internship will bring you perks (t-shirts, swag, concert tickets, etc.), a letter of recommendation, class credit (if applicable), and the ultimate prize — a trip to either NYC or Los Angeles to hang with the RG staff for a weekend!!!



Quality Control -- 3 internsThere are over 1.3 MILLION unreviewed annotations on the site! Interns will be responsible for accepting/editing/rejecting unreviewed annotations, as well as messaging and coaching the users who wrote them in the first place. We’re looking for people who are great annotators and writers, who can edit well and quickly, and who have good interpersonal skills (you’ll be messaging a LOT of users!) A big plus is if you have extensive knowledge of any of the artists who have the most unreviewed tates

Interns will have weekly check-ins with @SameOldShawn and strict weekly goals of annotations moderated and messages sent.

Rock -- 1 internWe are looking for a rock fanatic who can keep up on all the latest blogs. If you look at Pitchfork or Stereogum before brushing your teeth, this is for you

You will be responsible for keeping tabs on blogs and Twitter, looking for the hottest new rock songs. You'll add them to the site, annotate them, and get other people to jump in on them as well. In addition, you'll be looking for new rock editors and going through whitehat accounts to clean them up. You'll also be responsible for dealing with rock and pop artists with a lot of unreviewed tates

Pop -- 1 internDo you love Katy Perry? Have you enlisted in Rihanna's Navy? Can you recognize a Dr. Luke song before you see the credits? Then be a pop intern!

You'll transcribe and tate all the latest pop hits, find new like-minded users, and engage in crazy weekly challenges to make Rap Genius the greatest resource for pop in all the land!

I'm Interested! So, What Now?If you're interested in the QC internship, pick two rap songs -- one complex (Jay Z, Ras Kass, Kendrick Lamar, K-Rino, etc.) and one simpler (e.g. Gucci Mane, Lil B, Waka). Make sure both have a good amount of red lines on them. Edit them until they're perfect. Then PM @SameOldShawn and say which two songs you worked on

For rock: Pick a new, "hot" rock song. Transcribe it, add it to the site, make two annotations and make forum posts trying to get people to annotate them. Then message @Swisha with what you added and why you chose it.

For pop: find one pop song that needs work. Make sure you accept and edit at least one red line and make at least one NEW annotation as well. Once the song is perfect, hit up @Swisha
