[Verse One:]
Knowledge is power is what I was told
Growing up as a kid yo that was my code
My motto, listening to Nas I can, believing I could be anything in the world
The dreams I had of going to outer space, of leaving this place, I had my life to unfurl
To figure out the complex mystery of existence
Why am I here, I must have a purpose, a reason to be prodigious
I've known I was different for a long time
That's when I started to rhyme, I picked up a pen
Started scribbling down rhymes it all kicked of then
It started of whack, and over the past few years I learnt how to rap
It's an art form, as much as a lifestyle
Like anything, basketball or dance hall, just put your mind to it
It's human nature to try and survive, but some don't have it in them
That drive, the inner motive to not stop, to keep going through and not part
Ways from what you wanna do, this is for the future
Knowledge determines being a winner or loser
KRS pointed out that we live hip-hop and do rap
Man, I agree, cause life is a test, it's simple as that
We are only human, we can't change the past
As much as we wish we could go back and change what has passed
That's why I got a plan, to know what I'm up against
Cause knowing your enemy is your greatest strength
And i know I got my whole life ahead of me
So much to do, that I haven't done yet, but my mentality is a lot older then me physically
I feel old, looking at other people like I'm in a different reality
I feel like i know the truth and they're just living a lie
But at the end of the day it doesn't matter cause we all gonna die
[Hook x2:]
I'd much rather know the bitter truth than be ignorant like you (wouldn't you?)
Knowledge is power, life is a train and I'm just passing through
Something was lost with the newest stuff, we lost all meaning (Knowledge is Power)
We lost all the important bits that kept depressed kids breathin' (Knowledge is Power)
[Verse Two:]
Sittin' alone, phones on, tryna drown out the noise
Pen out, scribble it down, my minds lost in the void
Thoughts of life drifting through inside my mind
Why the hell am I here, putting together these words that rhyme
Over some rubbish beats that I made on a desktop computer
Dreams of blowing up, of being recognized for music
Images of fans that I'll probably never have
Thinking about all those before me that have came and passed
Biggie, Pac, L and Pun, just to name a few
Each are held as legends up in the minds of you
And each forever have a footprint that's left behind
Their legacy lives on and their souls survive
That's an aim, a goal to achieve, something to reach for
I can do it I know, I believe it, I need it, now I'm knee deep in it
This is something I'd bleed for, but Hip-Hop has got me pissed off
Cause Big Pun is dead, but why isn't Rick Ross?
I'm part of hip-hop now, that's a life you don't choose
If it comes to you it comes to you, it came to me so this life I won't loose
I've got the mindset of an emcee, now I can't ever lose
Music is magic yo, Em said it before
It's messed up the minds of many but it's saved many more
This stuff has brought together both soldiers and criminals
Through lyrics and beats whether you're sober or spiritual
This is real deal not the fake crap that don't take skill
Hip-Hop at it's truest form is all about feel
There's a language all true emcees speak, it's a language called real
We sharing our knowledge with the rest of the globe, worldwide
For anyone looking, it ain't hard to find, open your eyes, look outside, read between the lines
See the truth for yourself, don't trust the media
Cause those at the top are forever getting greedier
Open up to Technique, when an emcee speaks pay attention
It's the weak artists who don't, the world needs an intervention
[Hook x4:]
