„Listening Wind” z albumu „Remain In Light” z 1980 roku opowiada historię zagranicznego terrorysty Mojique, który przeprowadza bombardowanie amerykańskich kolonialistów. Kontrowersyjny temat skłonił Davida Byrne’a do komentarza: „Nie wiem, czy udałoby mi się więcej występować na tym koncercie!… Rozumiem, dlaczego Ameryka nie jest powszechnie kochana. Było to dla mnie oczywiste od lat, ale nie jest to oczywiste dla wielu Amerykanów. Ich natychmiastową reakcją jest: „Kochają nas, są po prostu zazdrośni. Chcą tylko McDonalda”.
Pierwsza zwrotka przedstawia Mojique, cudzoziemca, który oburza się na Amerykanów z powodu ich wystawnego stylu życia i spogląda na swoją ojczyznę przed i po przybyciu Amerykanów. Ten werset przedstawia początek nienawiści Mojique do Amerykanów, która ostatecznie zakończy się przemocą. Mojique postrzega swoje wnętrze lub serce jako oczyszczający wiatr. Atakujący Amerykanie są prochem, który chmurnieje i brudzi zarówno jego ziemię, jak i umysł.
Działając na podstawie tego uczucia i tego sedna, Mojique widzi siebie jako wyidealizowanego oczyszczającego wiatru, odpędzającego kurz. Alternatywnie, „wiatr” mógłby być bardziej dosłowny i odnosić się do rozprzestrzeniania się „brudnej” bomby zawierającej materiał biologiczny lub radioaktywny.
