„You Were Gone” to utwór pochodzący z wydanego 3 marca 2023 roku albumu studyjnego Daisy Jones & The Six, fikcyjnego zespołu pochodzącego z powieści Taylor Jenkins Reid noszącej tytuł nie inny niż „Daisy Jones & the Six.” W tym samym dniu co premiera krążka, swoją premierę odbył także oryginalny serial Prime Video, „Daisy Jones & the Six.” Wydawnictwo promowały dwa single – „Regret Me” oraz „Look At Us Now (Honeycomb).”
Podobnie jak w przypadku „Let Me Down Easy”, utwór „You Were Gone” porusza temat pragnienia drugiej osoby, darzenia jej nieodwzajemnianym uczuciem. Jednocześnie osoba wypowiadająca się w utworze ma świadomość, że jej uczucie nie jest żadną formą zobowiązania i w każdej chwili może odejść, stwierdza – „(…) Każda historia ma swoje zakończenie/ A naszym zadaniem nie jest zostać (…)”
W oficjalnym oświadczeniu autorka Taylor Jenkins Reid powiedziała: „Wreszcie mamy Aurorę.
