W tym utworze Jay wyraża swoje obawy związane z coraz szybszym rozwojem technologicznym. Postęp ma swoje zalety, ułatwiając nam życie i umożliwiając robienie rzeczy, o których wcześniej nawet się nam nie śniło, ale niesie też ze sobą wiele zagrożeń, czego często wydajemy się nie zauważać. „Virtual Insanity” przedstawia wizję świata, w którym to ludzkość całkowicie zatraciła się w swojej miłości do maszyn, stając się gatunkiem, który bliski jest zagłady.
Wszystkie prawa natury przestały obowiązywać, genetyczne modyfikowanie człowieka jest na porządku dziennym, a jest to tylko czubek góry lodowej. Pęd za przekraczaniem kolejnych granic doprowadził do zaprzepaszczenia wszystkich naszych ideałów, zasad moralnych i samego człowieczeństwa. Musieliśmy przenieść się pod ziemię, ponieważ na powierzchni nie dało się już żyć. Zniszczyliśmy wszystko, co ta planeta miała do zaoferowania, wciąż chcąc więcej i więcej.
Mimo że od wydania tego kawałka minęło już ponad dwadzieścia lat, to jednak ani trochę nie stracił na aktualności. W dalszym ciągu pędzimy na łeb, na szyję, eksploatując Ziemię i coraz bardziej oddalając się od natury. Dokąd nas to zaprowadzi? Tego nikt nie jest w stanie stwierdzić. Według autora powinniśmy się jednak mieć na baczności, by nasza arogancja nie wpędziła ludzkości do grobu.
