„Nothingness” to kawałek o samotności i braku sensu w życiu. Dla wielu z nas świat nie jest przyjaznym miejscem i funkcjonowanie w nim przynosi tylko cierpienie i niechęć. Wszyscy zmagamy się z codziennością, próbując sobie radzić z przyziemnymi problemami, raz za razem doświadczając porażek.
Szczególnie współcześnie, w dobie Internetu i szybkiej, niewymagającej przyjemności oddalamy się od innych ludzi, coraz bardziej izolując się od społeczeństwa. Nic więc dziwnego, że niektórym doskwiera przez to bolesna samotność, poczucie pustki, której w żaden sposób nie da się wypełnić.
Czy bierze się to z niedopasowania to innych, czy z bolesnych przeżyć, dotkliwych zawodów, jakich doznaliśmy, czasem tracimy zdolność do wchodzenia w bliskie relacje z otaczającym nas ludźmi. Boimy się odrzucenia i bólu, jaki inni mogą nam wyrządzić, przez co tak mocno się izolujemy, że gdy brak towarzystwa staje się nie do zniesienia nie umiemy już wrócić na łono społeczeństwa.
