„True Colors” stanowi kontynuację opowieści rozpoczętej w utworze „Secrets”. Tutaj jednak Abel próbuje wejść w głębiej w postać kobiety, swojej partnerki, i zrozumieć kim naprawdę jest. Chce odsunąć kotarę, zasłonę, za którą ta próbuje się ukrywać i ujawnić jej prawdziwe ja. Pyta ją więc kim jest, jak wyglądała jej przeszłość, z kim spędzała dotąd swoje życie. Woli usłyszeć prawdę od niej niż dowiadywać się od obcych ludzi. Więc czegokolwiek by nie zrobiła, on jest gotów poznać prawdę – wszyscy mamy przecież jakąś przeszłość.
