„Hallelujah” to pierwszy singiel z trzeciego albumu Oh Wonder. To pierwszy solowy utwór, który ukazał się po drugim albumie „Ultralife” w 2017 roku, rozpoczynając trzecią erę zespołu.
Piosenka opowiada o osobie, której ambicje są niedoceniane przez otaczających ją ludzi. Przysięgają, że któregoś dnia przekroczą oczekiwania wszystkich, pomimo ciągłych wątpliwości, które na nich rzucają.
„Alleluja” to pieśń buntownicza, którą napisaliśmy dla każdego, komu kiedykolwiek powiedziano, że nie może czegoś zrobić. Jako nastolatkowie tworzący muzykę oboje zniechęcili nas naysayers, którzy oświadczyli, że nigdy nie odniesiemy sukcesu, że nie jesteśmy wystarczająco dobrzy i że nigdy nie będziemy gwiazdami, więc powinniśmy się po prostu poddać.
Kiedy się poznaliśmy, połączyliśmy nasze wspólne doświadczenia związane z niepowodzeniami i niemal zagubieniami, stawiając sobie bardzo nierealny cel, jakim jest wydawanie muzyki i zwiedzanie świata. Po dwóch albumach i światowej trasie w 43 krajach, dopiero niedawno mieliśmy okazję przetworzyć ostatnie 5 lat.
„Alleluja” jest dla nas, podobnie jak wszystkich innych, przypomnieniem, aby nie przejmować się tym, co ludzie myślą o tobie, ciężko pracować, być sobą i starać się jak najlepiej. To nasz osobisty hymn samoakceptacji, który, mamy nadzieję, zachęci innych do „noszenia koron”, bez względu na to, co mówią inni”.
