„Rudy” to opowieść o ucieczce z miejsca, w którym nie można być tym, kim się chce, w którym nieustannie trzeba się ukrywać i udawać kogoś innego. W tekście narrator nawiązuje do jamajskiego i irańskiego imienia Rudy. Stamtąd imię przywędrowało do Londynu razem ze swoimi właścicielami. Rostam określa utwór jako „opowieść”, w której tekście nawiązuje do różnych miejsc i czasów. I stwierdza, że to właśnie temat ucieczki jest tutaj głównym tropem interpretacyjnym.
Tytułowy bohater staje się przykładem osoby, która nie jest szczęśliwa w miejscu, w którym się urodziła. Sam nie wie czego dokładnie chce, nie wie co myśli, jakie są jego potrzeby. Zastanawia się jednak nad swoim życiem i nad tym, co powinien z nim zrobić.
