Reynolds nakłania nas tutaj do tego, byśmy chociaż na chwilę zatrzymali się w swoim biegu i zastanowili się nad tym, jakie mamy szczęście że żyjemy. Coś, co wydaje się nam tak naturalne, że nawet nie myślimy o tym na co dzień jest przecież prawdziwym fenomenem, czymś absolutnie niewiarygodnym. Przecież żebyśmy teraz mogli cieszyć się faktem, że możemy chodzić, oddychać i poznawać otaczający nas świat ewolucja pracowała miliony lat.
Jesteśmy efektem gigantycznej pracy, jaka na przestrzeni eonów spowodowała rozwój życia na tej planecie. Już nawet gdy zeszliśmy z drzewa i staliśmy się ludźmi mieliśmy za sobą tak wiele, że ciężko jest to ogarnąć umysłem. Po drodze mogło pojawić się z miliard błędów, które potencjalnie byłby w stanie sprawić, że by nas tu teraz nie było.
Już sam fakt, że nasze pojawienie się na tym świecie poprzedzały pokolenia rozmnażających się przodków jest dostatecznie niebywały. Setki ludzi musiało ze sobą współżyć i płodzić potomków, którzy potem robili to samo by stworzyć mieszankę genów, jaką w sobie mamy. Gdy więc przejmujemy się jakimiś przyziemnymi niepowodzeniami, nieszczęściami spotykającymi nas na naszej drodze, zastanówmy się jak niewiarygodnymi jesteśmy szczęściarzami, że po prostu tutaj jesteśmy.
