Tekst piosenki jest sprawozdaniem z lęków Jamesa wobec kogoś, na kim mu zależy. Prosi tutaj tę bliską sobie osobę by nie wychodziła sama z domu – to oczywiście metafora dla większej, szerszej samodzielności. James nie chce pozwolić komuś na samodzielność, nie chce wypuścić go ze swoich ramion bo boi się o niego, martwi o bezpieczeństwo.
Zwraca się do tej, najpewniej kobiety, jak do dziecka, które dopiero dorasta i powoli pragnie robić coraz więcej rzeczy samodzielnie. Wokalista boi się, że – tak jak dziecko – popełni wiele błędów, pozwoli się skrzywdzić, oszukać. A on chce dla niej jak najlepiej i wie, że okrutny świat na pewno ostrzy sobie na nią pazury.
Samodzielność jest trudna – tak dla kogoś, kto chce się jej podjąć, jak i dla kogoś, komu na tej osobie zależy. Obydwie strony muszą przejść test, przeciąć pępowinę ich łączącą. A James boi się, że raz posmakowana wolność zbyt mocno uzależni i odciągnie tę osobę od niego. Boi się opuszczenie. Więc pyta – dlaczego szukasz kogoś innego, skoro masz mnie – kochającego, wrażliwego, pomocnego?
