W tekście utworu został poruszony kontrowersyjny temat, jakim jest ochrona środowiska naturalnego. Planeta od wielu lat zatruwana jest przez człowieka, a zmiany jakie wywiera człowiek na środowisko zaszły już tak daleko, że są nieodwracalne i nie można ich zatrzymać.
Autor w tekście pragnie wyrazić swoje ubolewanie nad tym, że człowiek stał się ignorantem w stosunku do swojej planety. Człowiek wypiera fakt, że rasa ludzka ją zatruwa i niszczy. Mężczyzna zauważa, że działania człowieka doprowadziły do tego, iż Ziemia powoli umiera. Człowiek jest samolubną istotą, która myśli jedynie o swoich potrzebach. Nie zważa na ochronę środowiska naturalnego.
Gdziekolwiek mężczyzna się ruszy widzi ten proces. Nad morzem widzi rozlewaną ropę każdego dnia. W mieście nie ma zieleni, wszędzie otaczają go wysokie budynki. Autor stwierdza, że nadejdzie moment, w którym planeta się zbuntuje, a człowiek już nie będzie mógł funkcjonować tak, jak do tej pory.
