„Sockets” to opowieść o tym, jak czasami ciężko jest nie ulegać naszym żądzom. Jesteśmy koniec końców tylko zwierzętami i każdy z nas uczy się w toku życia nie ulegać swoim impulsom, z większym, lub mniejszym zresztą skutkiem. W tym utworze Isaac przedstawia nam obraz kobiety, która na pierwszy rzut oka może wydawać się nam rozwiązłą uwodzicielką, oddającą raz po raz swoje ciało w ciągłym poszukiwaniu zaspokojenia.
Sprawa jednak nie jest tak prosta, jak mogłoby się wydawać, gdy autor zaczyna ukazywać nam drugą, znacznie bardziej tragiczną stronę tej dziewczyny. Nie da się ukryć, że jest ona zjawiskowo piękna, ale przecież to nie jej wina, tylko po prostu genów, jakie posiada dzięki swoim rodzicom. Już to z automatu czyni ją atrakcyjnym kąskiem dla mężczyzn. To prawda, że lubi ona seks, ale sama zdaje sobie sprawę z tego, że czasami po prostu nie potrafi się kontrolować i myśleć rozsądnie, stąd te wszystkie nocne przygody. Nie chce być taka, jaka jest ale cały czas przegrywa walkę ze swoimi demonami.
Życie, jakie prowadzi potrafi być naprawdę upajające, gdy każdego wieczora znajduje się ktoś, gotów sponsorować jej zabawę, a ona traktowana jest niczym księżniczka. Próbuje jakoś pokonać tę nieopanowaną chuć, jaka towarzyszy jej na każdym kroku, naprawdę chce stać się porządniejsza, ale pokusa jest po prostu zbyt silna, by jej nie ulec.
Zanim zaczniemy więc oceniać jej zachowanie, powinniśmy sami zastanowić się nad tym, czy i my nie mamy jakichś słabości, potrafiących przejąć nad nami kontrolę. Silna wola nie jest wbrew pozorom czymś pospolitym i większość ludzi od czasu do czasu po prostu nie umie utrzymać się w ryzach, zatracając się w przeróżnych uzależnieniach, czy niemoralnych zachowaniach.
